We came to Astoria to meet some family and relax, we love the area there is so much to do and many places to thrift which is a favorite activity of my sister and myself. We loved the art deco architecture of this hotel. They are 100 years old this year.

The breakfast was good that we had each morning and the rooms are fairly priced and comfortable, but we were absolutely tickled with the banter of the check in clerks , an outgoing man with a contagious smile contrasted with his tiny coworker with her long long ponytail. They made us laugh with their light hearted volley and it was clear they enjoy what they are doing and this really resonated with us for the whole stay. We encountered each clerk separately later in the trip and they greet people like you’ve been old friends. Times have been difficult for the world and it is such a breath of fresh air to have such enjoyable interactions in hospitality...

Heceta Head Lightstation is celebrating 28 years of Annual Victorian Christmas Open Houses on December 14th/15th and 21st/22nd from 4 to 7 pm. The Keeper’s House will be decorated with festive decorations December 6th-January 2nd. Each evening of the open houses performers will share holiday favorites and Santa will be visiting to welcome children of all ages. Cookies and warm drinks will be available. Entry to the Keeper’s House is free, but donations to KHHL are accepted. Parking is available at the Heceta Head Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint, just below the Keeper’s House, for $5 per vehicle. A free shuttle will take visitors from the park right to the front door. Or bring warm, rainproof clothing and a flashlight so you can enjoy the beautiful walk up from the beach to the festivities.
